Amber Heard continues to describe the violence she says she endured at the hands of ex-husband Johnny Depp as she testified for the second day on Thursday, sharing her side of the incident where the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star said that Heard threw a glass bottle at him, breaking his fingers.
Both actors narrated an ugly scene of violence in a secluded rental house in Australia where Depp was shooting a movie – but their versions of what happened differed dramatically. Hurd said the evening of March 2015 was “terrible” at times, making it the most feared he has ever experienced.
At the height of the violence, Heard said, Depp allegedly entered her pubic bone repeatedly with a bottle. When he stopped, she said, she was afraid to move because she didn’t know the bottle was broken. He was bleeding, and went to the bathroom to throw up.
“I can’t believe I have to do this,” she testified, while her lawyer apologized for asking her to recount the alleged experience. “Johnny had the bottle inside me,” she said.
According to Hurd, the incident began when Depp began drinking and taking an undisclosed amount of the party drug MDMA. The pair were married at this point in their relationship – they divorced in 2016 – but hadn’t seen each other in weeks due to their respective work schedules.
She said that when he pushed her, she backed down.
“Do you want to go, little girl?” Depp asked in Hurd’s statement.
Depp reportedly began hitting Heard, at one point throwing him on a pingpong table that collapsed before hitting him again. At another point, Heard said that she grabbed an empty bottle of wine, Depp was taunting her, and smashed it on the tile floor, breaking it.
“It was like a lightbulb switch went off. He starts screaming. I don’t know if he backhanded me or hit me in general, I don’t really remember, but I remember it knocked me to the ground.” ,” said Hurd, crying.
“I remember standing up until I lifted myself off the floor, a bottle in his hand. He threw it at me. It missed, thankfully, but I pulled myself back… at some point, He had placed a broken bottle on my face, neck area, from my jawline. He told me he would carve my face,” she testified.
“I honestly can’t remember if I threw anything in his direction. I don’t think I did,” Heard said. “I just remember he used to put me in a nightgown. I remember him waving at me, throwing me around, I was flailing. It happened when some bottles were broken on the floor. This after I was in — again, I’m sorry, I wish I could remember the sequence, but it’s shining — he’s throwing these bottles at me.”
He never killed Heard or any other woman at the behest of Depp. Instead, Heard chucked a broken bottle at him inside a home in Australia, and it cut off the tip of a finger. At one point during his day-long testimony, Depp stood up and spread his fingers in front of the courtroom, which had been healed by doctors.
The manager of the rental home testified last month about finding Depp’s fingers in a bloody paper towel.
But Hurd said she was simply trying to get away from Depp and protect herself.
“At some point, I’m up against a wall and he’s yelling at me that he hates me. That I ruined his life,” Heard testified. On another, she said, Depp tore off her nightgown, leaving her naked.
After the attack, Heard said she found the house had been dumped, with empty bags of what she said were scattered around. Images shown in court showed blood splattered on the floor, as well as messages splattered in paint and what Heard said was blood from Depp’s injured finger, a sofa, a lampshade and other furniture on the walls. According to Hurd, the mashed potatoes were smeared “all over” with other foods, including pieces of raw steak that were wrapped in pieces of her nightgown.
“It was clear he was out of his mind. He wrote on the back of a pillow covered in blood,” Heard said. “It looked like he ran out of blood… it wasn’t bleeding enough, and he went and got color, and it became color and blood.”
Depp has been open about his struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction in the past, but maintains that he never abused his ex-wife – rather he says she was the one who was abused. He said on the stand that his claims of abuse were “heinous” and “not based on any species of truth.”
The testimony of both actors came in the form of a 2018 Washington Post editorial against Heard as part of Depp’s defamation lawsuit, which he co-wrote with lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union, describing him as a domestic violence survivor. Was.
Earlier in the day, Heard, based on testimony Wednesday, alleged that those who helped manage Depp’s career overlooked his bad behavior and helped cover it up, for example, his After he died, he replaced them with dirty clothes.
On Thursday, she told of an incident on a private plane in 2014 where Depp told her about steamy scenes she filmed with actor James Franco for the movie “The Adderall Diaries,” which debuted in 2015.
“He called me a slut,” she said. Heard described several instances during his testimony where Depp accused him of cheating on other people.
On the plane, she said she tried to distance herself from Depp, who started “throwing things … snowflakes, pots.” Then, she alleged, he slapped her in the face while a friend of the couple was sitting nearby. He said people working for Depp were also on board. When Heard woke up, Depp kicked her in the back, causing her to fall to the floor of the plane, she said.
“Nobody said anything. Nobody did anything. You could hear a pin drop on that plane. You could feel the tension, but nobody did anything,” she said.
During the incident in Australia, Heard said that after offering help to protect Depp, he took out his penis and said that he would write the message in urine for her. The recall stunned the security officers when Heard recalled.
In the courtroom, Depp smiled when his ex-wife mentioned pissing him off.
Heard described several other scenes of violence during the day, in one of which she said that he punched her in the face so hard that she thought he had broken her nose. He said Depp had accused him of flirting with another woman.
At another point, Heard said that during a press tour of Depp’s 2015 film “Mortdecai,” Depp grabbed her by the hair and kicked her in the back in a hotel room. As she recalled checking the Internet for photos of her red carpet appearance, she cried because she had brought a strapless dress to wear, and was concerned about the marks or scars she could see in the photos.
Depp and Heard were married in a civil ceremony at Depp’s mother’s home in Los Angeles, and then went to the actor’s private island for a party and beach celebration with friends and family. Although he was wealthier than her, Hurd said that Depp refused to consider the notion of making a premarital contract.
“They said the only way out of it was death,” she said of her marriage.
Heard is expected to resume testimony next week.
